Bertram L. Podell

Bertram L. Podell (* December 27, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, † August 17 2005 in New York City ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1968 and 1975 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Bertram L. Podell was born about seven years after the end of World War II in Brooklyn and grew up there. He attended Yeshiva of Flatbush and Abraham Lincoln High School, St. John's University (New York) and Brooklyn Law School. His admission to the bar he received in 1950 and then began to practice in New York City. Between 1944 and 1946 he served in the United States Navy. He sat 1954-1968 in the New York State Assembly.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. He was in a by-election on 20 February 1968 the 13th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, there to fill the vacancy that was created by the resignation of Abraham J. Multer. After three successful re- election he suffered in 1974 at his renewed candidacy defeat and retired after January 3, 1975 from the Congress of.

After that he was in New York City lawyer again, where he died on 17 August 2005.
