Besermyan

The Bessermenen are an ethnic group in Udmurtia, located in the Russian Volga Federal District.

The Bessermenen are highly assimilated into the Udmurt, in force since 2002 but again as an independent group (previously they had been counted among the Udmurt ). In the 2002 census their number was found to be 3122. Ten villages are exclusively on this information, partly inhabited by 41 Bessermenen.

The entry in Meyers Lexikon, 4th edition from 1888 to 1890 is as follows: " Bessermjänen ( Besermianen ), a computed to the Tartars mixed people, whose origin is not yet precisely determined. They live, 1400 heads strong, in the Russian province of Vyatka under the Votiaks, from which they differ by their Moslem creed. "
