Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise

Besse -et -Saint- Anastaise is a commune with 1487 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. It belongs to the district Issoire and Canton Besse -et -Saint- Anastaise.

Geography

It lies at the Puy de Sancy in the Monts Dore at the Regional Natural Park of Auvergne Volcanoes. Subheadings lead the Department of Roads 36, 149 and 978 6 km away, Winter Sports Center Super Besse is part of the community. The area is drained by the river Couze Pavin.

History

The market town appears in 1050 in the story; it developed a pin whose church has been preserved. In May 1270, Bernard de la Tour VII granted the city rights. The place became the trading center in the Middle Ages increasingly important; the Renaissance are an expression of prosperity in the 15th and 16th century. Today the town is the starting point for winter sports and summer hiking in the mountainous area.

On April 2, 1961, Besse renamed in Besse -en- Chandesse. On 1 July 1973, a further renaming by fusion with the village of Saint -Anastaise the present Besse -et -Saint- Anastaise. By law this term has not yet entirely; even in recent guidebooks and on the internet you can find the name Besse -en- Chandesse often still.

  • Former collegiate church of Saint -André, Romanesque and Gothic (from the 12th century ), Choir of 1555 (1822 restoration ), featured figurative carved capitals, beautiful choir stalls
