Beta (motorcycle manufacturer)

Betamotor SpA is an Italian manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters of the brand beta. The company is located in Rignano sull'Arno.

History

The company was founded in 1904 under the name Società Giuseppe Bianchi in Florence and then produced bicycles by hand.

As part of the modernization of the company in 1940, the company name was renamed in beta and began single-cylinder two-stroke engines in the house bicycle frame to mount. So the first bikes left the factory.

In the 1960s, Beta began with the development and production of self-developed engines, which are installed to date in their own motorcycles and scooters. This was initially to single-cylinder two-stroke engines. Only later was also developed four-stroke engines, but remained faithful to the concept of the single cylinder.

In 1972 Beta relocated its headquarters to Rignano sull'Arno. Main business has since become the production of scooters and trial motorcycles.

Since 2002 Beta produced with the models " Jonathan 350 ", " 350 euro " and " Alp 200 " motorcycles for everyday road use. This beta does not put in the 350 models on a self- developed engine, but buying the single-cylinder engine a the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki. The end of 2003, the manufacturer expanded its portfolio to the models " Alp 4.0" and " Rider 4.0", which, as already the " Jonathan" and " euro ", based on the proven single-cylinder from the Suzuki DR 350. The end of 2004 beta first showed the fruits of the collaboration with the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM and thus offers his fresh commitment in enduro sport.

Since 2010 Beta installed in the Enduro models RR 4T 400/450/520 engines of its own design and production.
