Betafo
Province
Betafo is a Malagasy town in the same district, region Vakinankaratra, Antananarivo province. Its population in 2001 was 31,000.
Geography
Betafo is 22 km from the city of Antsirabe on the Route Nationale to Morondava. The area is dominated by volcanic hills.
Economy
The region around Betafo is rich in minerals, including Tourmaline, Phenakit, Liddicoatit Ferrocolumbit and Manganotantalit. The name of the mineral Betafit was derived from the name of the city.

Religion
From 1913 to 1921 Betafo seat of the diocese Antsirabé. The first Lutheran Church of Madagascar was built here by Norwegian missionaries.
