Betrayal in Antara

Betrayal in Antara is a computer role-playing game released in 1997 and indirect successor of Betrayal at Krondor. It was developed and published by Sierra On-Line.

Action

Unlike the predecessor fantasy author Raymond E. Feist was no longer involved in the development, but worked together with PyroTechnix and 7th level of Return to Krondor. Therefore, the game is no longer located in the fantasy world Midkemia, but in the newly designed, thematically strongly related game world Ramar.

Aren rescues the young noble William 's life and discovers his talent for magic. William promises to pay his debt Aren opposite by helping him to consolidate his talent and to train. Save After a short time the two Kaylin 's life, after which unite the three and break in Williams hometown.

The plot is divided into nine chapters.

Gameplay

In Betrayal in Antara, the player controls up to four-man group of heroes. The gameplay is presented in a 3D first-person view, exploring the game world is happening in real time. The view for the turn-based battles on Hexfeldkarten enters a overview perspective.

Unlike many other RPGs, there is no possibility to create your own characters. Instead, the player has four default characters to draw:

  • William Escobar, Warrior
  • Aren Cordelain, magicians and
  • Kaylin Usher, Slayer.
  • Raal, a Grrrlf ( similar to a werewolf ).

RPG usual, the player receives rewards for fighting and mastered tasks. The different abilities of the characters improve with regular use.

Technology

Betrayal in Antara uses an enhanced version of the graphics engine of Betrayal in Krondor in a resolution of 640x480 pixels.
