Betty's Bay

Betty's Bay ( Afrikaans: Bettysbaai ) is a small town with 1380 inhabitants ( as of 2011) in the community over the beach, district Overberg, Western Cape Province in South Africa. The city is situated between Kleinmond and Pringle Bay, 42 kilometers south-east of Gordon 's Bay in 0 meters on the coast on the road R44 ( Clarence Drive).

Urban was the long-drawn place, a roughly eight -kilometer road village, around 1930 by Harold Nixon Porter. Was named the place after Betty Youlein, daughter of Porter's boss.

History

Between 1912 and 1930 a whaling station was located here, from the slowly developed the present town.
