Betygala

Betygala is a town with 559 inhabitants ( 2001) in the Rajongemeinde Raseiniai, 16 km east of Raseiniai on the road Ariogala - Tytuvėnai, on the left bank of the Dubysa, at the Vieviržė in the Regional Park Dubysa. It is the center of the district of Betygala and sub- district office Betygala. There are Betygala Catholic Church ( built 1930), post office (LT- 60010 ). Betygala was mentioned in documents in 1253. In 1579 there were parish school and from 1867 to 1915 a state primary school.
