Bezdonys

Bezdonys (Polish Bezdany ) is a town in the Rajongemeinde Vilnius, northeast of the city of Vilnius. Bezdonys is the center of the administrative county ( lit. Bezdonių seniūnija ). In the town, the Virgin Mary is the mercy of the gate of the Dawn Church, built in 1937. There Lithuanian Saulėtekis main school ( lit. Bezdonių Saulėtekio pagrindinė mokykla ) and the middle school Bezdonys well as the Polish Juliusz Słowacki middle school. In the town there is a post office ( ZIP: LT- 15023 ) and the Bezdonys station. Through the town the Bezdonė, a left tributary of the Neris flows.

January Dlugosz mentioned in 1415 that King Władysław II Jagiello Bezdonys visited. On September 26, 1908 battle group of the Polish Socialist Party came over, led by Józef Piłsudski a train.

1915 Bezdonys received the status of town. Almost all residents (except three families) were repatriated after the Second World War in Poland.
