Bhadrapur, Mechi

Bhadrapur is a town and administrative center in the district of Jhapa in Mechi zone in the far east of Nepal on the Indian border. The city lies on the border river Mechi, about the time the bridge is built. Bhadrapur one of the oldest places of Nepal with municipal rights and was once an important and prosperous border and trading center. With the construction of the first bridge over the Mechi at Kakarbhitta ( Mechinagar ), 14 km to the north, but a lost Bhadrapur its economic importance. By building a bridge is hoped that again more trade with the neighboring India.

Bhadrapur is still central location for administrative and educational institutions. Bhadrapur has an airfield in Chandragadhi district with regular connections to Kathmandu. Nearby are more tea plantations.
