Bharath Gopi

Gopi (real name: V. Gopinathan Nair, born November 8, 1937 in Chirayankil, Travancore, † January 29, 2008 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala ) was an Indian stage and film actor and director.

Gopi initially worked exclusively as a theater actor, before his film debut with Adoor Gopalakrishnan had Swayamvaram in 1972. His stage experience he brought also in the role of ringmaster in the film Thampu (1978). He played dramatic roles convincingly in Adaminte Variyellu (1983, with Mammootty and Suhasini ) and Aaghat (1985, with Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah).

In the film Njattadi he led in 1979 for the first time to direct myself. In addition to his film work, he always remained connected to the theater by directing and acting work. Since the late 1980s, he was partially paralyzed and occurred less frequently.
