Biagio Rossetti

Biagio Rossetti (* 1447, † 1516) was an Italian architect and urban planner. Rossetti was court architect of Ercole I d' Este in Ferrara.

From 1490 Rossetti was planning the expansion and securing of Ferrara. Wide and straight roads built - the first time in Europe were here - with a medieval center. The extension was designed by him to the city center is considered the first modern city planning in the world. The historic center of Ferrara has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997.

Biagio Rossetti was also an architect of many other remarkable buildings and churches.
