Białołęka

Białołęka is the northernmost district of the Polish capital Warsaw.

History

The village Białołęka was founded around the year 1425 by the family Gołyński. In 1938 Bialoleka had about 900 inhabitants and was part of the community Bródno.

In 1994 Białołęka was renamed as a result of the law on the reallocation of the urban area of the capital city of Warsaw as a church in the name of Warszawa - Bialoleka. In 2002, the affiliation field changed again, from the municipalities were wards.

Economy

In Białołęka is the power plant Żerań, the second largest power station in Warsaw. Directly on the power plant is built in the post-war harbor Żerań.

Borough breakdown

The municipality is roughly divided into the following parts:

  • Industrial use predominates in the center, the western, southwestern and southern parts of the borough.
  • Density residential development is found in the western and northwestern part.
  • A loosened residential areas have particularly the northern and eastern parts of the district.
  • On the Vistula is today used as a seminary Mostowski Palace
