Bibi Russell

Bibi Russell ( beng.: বিবি রাসেল, * around 1954 in Chittagong ) is a businesswoman and former top model from Bangladesh.

Life

The daughter of Mokhlessur Rahman and Nahar Shamsun grew up in Dhaka. In 1972, she left her home and went to London, where she was able to enroll the first woman from Bangladesh at the London College of Fashion. There she earned her college degree in 1975. She worked as a model for fashion shows and various magazines, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Harper 's Bazaar (which she had discovered ).

In 1994, she ended her modeling career and established in their home in 1996 with the company Bibi Productions, a collection of hand-woven fabrics. Thus they provided active development assistance and created thousands of jobs.

Awards

In 2003, she received the " Change the World - Best Practice Prize" for projects that are committed to sustainable environmental change. She received the Knight's Cross of the Spanish Order of Isabella the Catholic and has received several awards by the UNESCO ( Designer for Development 1999 Artist for Peace 2001).
