Biblical garden

A Bible Biblical garden or garden is a themed garden, which shows mentioned in the Bible, or occurring in the biblical world plants.

This is often supplemented by other elements of stories from the Bible or from the biblical life world. The goal of such a garden is usually not a purely botanical, but the illustration of biblical content for visitors.

Development and function of Bible Gardens

Most Bible gardens created on the initiative of church congregations, rare synagogue communities, groups or individuals from these communities. However, there are also collections of biblical plants as part of botanical gardens, as in Hamburg and in Jerusalem. While the emphasis at first is naturally in the botanical gardens at the botanical interest, the Bible Gardens Christian and Jewish coinage serve primarily mediation and illustrate biblical content.

Bible gardens can be part of a larger garden or a park, be both private and public or a closed group or community are available. They are used for recreation, worship and education, occasionally delivery of training or tourism marketing. Although they are two very different subjects and groups of plants, the demarcation to the monastery garden is not always very clear. In some Bible icon gardens are plants that bear their name a reference to persons or stories from the Bible or the history of Christianity presented.
