The Biblis Patera is an extinct volcano millions of years ago in the western part of the Tharsis bulge on Mars, Pavonis Mons and west of the south-east of Olympus Mons. He was taken with the High Resolution Stereo Camera ( HRSC) onboard the ESA spacecraft Mars Express on 8 November 2004 with an image resolution of 10.8 meters per pixel. It is about 100 kilometers wide and 170 kilometers long. It projects two to three miles above its surroundings. Volcanic mountains of this magnitude are not uncommon on Mars. Located in the mountain lies a 53 km by measuring Caldera, whose depth is about four kilometers.

The mountainous rings around the crater are a relic of Lavaauswürfen respectively. When Biblis Patera is believed that the cooled magma layer, which forms the crater floor, repeatedly broke because again penetrated lava to the surface. Of these burglaries witness the terraces, which have been identified within the caldera.
