Bibowee

The Bibowsee is a lake in the municipality of Bibow in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern in the Sternberg Lake District.

The lake was created in the Pomeranian season of Weichseleiszeit between Sander and Haupteisrandlage the ground moraine of the maximum Eisvorstoßes.

The eponymous place Bibow located on the southern shore of the lake. On the north bank of the country road leads 31 of Ventschow by Warin. There are the Bibower districts Hasenwinkel and Nisbill. The nutrient-rich shallow lake has in an area of ​​about 1750 meters in east-west direction, a maximum width of 640 meters and an area of ​​79 hectares. The water surface is 20.1 m above sea level. NHN. The deepest part of the lake lies in the western part and measures 8.3 meters. Especially on the northeastern shore are distinct areas of shallow water. Inlet receives the lake from the north through some ditches and streams, a sequence takes place in the south near Bibow over a ditch in the mill creek further into the Neuhof lake. The Bibowsee is managed by a fishing and processing plant from Dabel. Fishing is possible.

The Bibowsee is surrounded by a belt of reeds, the banks partly covered with forest. The reed provides, among others, the endangered Great Bittern ( Botaurus stellaris ) retreat, which has stable stocks here.
