Biel/Bienne–Leubringen/Evilard funicular

Inaugurated on January 21, 1898 Biel- Leubringen Railway is a funicular railway in Switzerland and connects Biel / Bienne with Leubringen. The difference in height of the rail system is 242 m, the track is 933 meters long.

In 1905 the Central Station in the Quartier Beaumont was opened. In 1909, the cars were replaced. Instead of 28 to 50 people could now be transported and the speed was increased to 2.4 m s /. In 1961 the railway was automated and the wood were replaced by metal carts. In 2000, the railway has merged with the Biel- Magglingen train to FUNIC. In the summer of 2009, the two cars were renewed.
