Bierzwnik, Choszczno County

Bierzwnik ( German Marienwalde ) is a village with a seat of the same rural community in the southern part of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the powiat Choszczeński ( Arnswalde ).

Geographical location

Bierzwnik (the village is from the same place Bierzwnik ( hunter forest ) at Myślibórz ( Soldin ) to distinguish ) is the Pojezierze Dobiegniewskie ( Woldenberger Lakeland ) on the province road 160 between the county town of Choszczno ( Arnswalde, 24 km) and Dobiegniew ( Woldenberg, 11 km ), already in the Lubusz Voivodeship.

History

The history of the place Marienwalde in the Neumark is closely linked to its beginnings with the history of the monastery Marienwalde, which was founded in 1286 and existed until its abolition in 1549. John of Kuestrin changed then the possession of the monastery in the Office Marienwalde to. 1607 a sovereign glassworks was established at Headquarters, which was until 1825 in operation.

In the 17th century the Elector of Brandenburg built the monastery building into a hunting lodge. By 1945, the town belonged to the district of Arnswalde and with the circle until 1938 the Prussian province of Brandenburg, 1938-1945 for Pomerania.

1945 Marienwalde was badly damaged. The place came under the name Bierzwnik under Polish sovereignty and is now the district as well as the official residence of Gmina Bierzwnik in powiat Choszczeński in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (1975-1998 Gorzów Voivodeship ( Landsberg ad Warta ) ).

The rural municipality was formed in 1983 and comprises Bierzwnik 239.05 km ². The particular numerous lakes commune is now 4,710 inhabitants, of whom 1200 live in the village Bierzwnik.

Traffic

Road

The Gmina Bierzwnik is traversed in its entire length of the province road 160 from northwest to southeast. It combines Suchan ( Zachan, along Route 10) and Choszczno ( Arnswalde ) with Dobiegniew ( Woldenberg ) Drezdenko ( Driesen ), Międzychód ( Birnbaum ) and Miedzichowo (copper hammer, along Route 2).

Rail

Since 1847 Bierzwnik is connected to the railway network, as the route Stargard in Pomerania ( Stargard ) - Woldenberg ( Dobiegniew ) was built. Today, it runs the PKP railway line 351 and extends from Stettin to Posen. The Gmina Bierzwnik lies with the two railway stations Bierzwnik and Rębusz ( August Walde ) on this route.
