Biesiekierz

Biesiekierz ( German Biziker ) is a village with 970 inhabitants in Poland. It is located about twelve miles from the city limits of Koszalin ( Koszalin ) and belongs to the powiat Koszaliński to. The village Biesiekierz is also seat of the rural commune ( gmina wiejska ).

General

Your visibility achieved Biesiekierz through the potato. In the resort nine new varieties of potatoes were grown in plant breeding station of the village in the 1980er/1990er years. Since then, the symbol of the town is the potato which also finds himself in the arms of the rural community. So is in the center between chapel, general store and former nightclub a sculpture depicting an oversized potato. Was created the plastic Wieslaw Adamski.

The age structure Biesiekierz is getting higher as the young leaves from one year to the place by rural exodus to the surrounding major cities.

History

In the 16th century Biesiekierz was a part of the assets of living in Nosowo landlords, however, changed over the years its owners. End of the 19th century the village was owned by the family of Kameke, last laird was Ewald Friedrich Graf von Hertzberg, who lived in which was built around the turn of the century estate and distillery operation.
