The Big Walnut Creek is a left tributary of the Scioto River in central Ohio. It rises about 2 km south-west of Mount Gilead in Morrow County. He then runs parallel to the Alum Creek to the south and is dammed east of Sunbury to Hoover Reservoir in Blendon Township. The Hoover Memorial Reservoir is a significant water reservoir for the city Columbus and includes around 80 billion liters of water. The lake has a surface area of ​​about 13.25 km ². The dam was built in 1955 and reaches a height of 29 m and a length of 787 m. The Big Walnut Creek continues to flow south through the towns of Gahanna and Whitehall and reaches the Three Creeks Metro Park Columbus, where it receives its two main tributaries of Alum Creek and Blacklick Creek. At the Countygrenze of Franklin and Pickaway County at Lockbourne it empties into the Scioto River.
