Bill McCutcheon

James William McCutcheon (* May 23, 1924 in Russell, Kentucky, † January 9, 2002 in Ridgewood, New Jersey ) was an American actor.

Life

James William McCutcheon was the son of Florence Louise, born Elam, and Robert Kenna McCutcheon. During his high school years, he formed a jazz band. During the Second World War he served in the United States Army in Italy, where he was wounded. He then studied at Ohio University and moved to his graduation in 1948 to New York City, where he was active in various clubs as a dancer. His Broadway debut was on September 20, 1951 in the Comedy Out West of Eighth. Chance he had engagements at the theater and shot commercials. However, he and his family lived in poverty. He could only afford a one bedroom apartment in Greenwich Village. His living conditions was filmed for the CBS show Person to Person in 1954.

As an actor, McCutcheon was successful until the mid-1970s, when he for television series such as Ball Four and Kojak - Kojak was engaged as well as films such as The spy and a great guy bangs on the drum. His biggest success was the Broadway play Anything Goes, in which he played the character of Moonface Martin 19 October 1987 to 3 September 1989. But in 1988 won a Obie Award and a Tony Award as Best Supporting Actor in a Musical. After the end of the 1980s in successful films such as Vibes - starred The supernatural hunt for the Golden Pyramids, Family Business and Julia and her lover, he finished 1992, his acting career.

On 9 January 2002 McCutcheon died at the age of 77 years at the hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey, of natural causes. He left behind his wife Anne, with whom he had been married since 1952, and the three children.
