Bill Moggridge

William (Bill) Moggridge (* June 25, 1943; † September 8, 2012 ), British industrial and interaction designer, was co-founder of IDEO, the managers chose one of the most innovative companies in the world. Since 2010 he was director of the Smithsonian 's Cooper -Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.

Career

Bill Moggridge designed the first laptop in the world than to be designated computer, the GRiD Compass 1100. He is a pioneer of interaction design and one of the first integrated human factors into the design of software and hardware. Moggridge was a visiting professor for interaction design at the Royal College of Art in London, Lecturer in Design at the London Business School and a board member of the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy. He was, inter alia, Consulting Associate Professor of Design at Stanford University.

Awards

Bill Moggridge received the 1996 red dot design award as head of the design team of the year ( IDEO ).

In April 2009 the Cooper Hewitt Museum of the U.S. National Design Award for his life's work drew from him. On 9 November 2010 he was awarded the Prince Philip Designers Prize.
