Biougra

Biougra (also Biourga written; Arabic: بيوكرة ;) is the capital of the province Chtouka - Ait Baha in the Moroccan Souss -Massa -Draa.

Location

Biougra is about 133 m above sea level. inst in the western foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains in southwestern Morocco. Distances to Agadir or Inezgane be around 37 and 26 km. Aït Baha is located about 35 kilometers south-east; from there it is another 90 km to Tafraoute.

Demographics

Had the place in 1994, almost 14,000 inhabitants, as there were in 2003 26,000 and in 2012 already about 41,000. The population increase is primarily due to migration of Berber families in the surrounding mountain areas.

Economy

The most important role in the economy of the city play retail and small craft. South of Biougra is a cement factory. In addition, many workers are employed in the public service. Many men live and work in the cities of the north, or in France, so that the place is highly dependent on money transfer services.

Attractions

The city has - except for the Monday market taking place - on no touristic attractions, but is well suited for trips to the Agadiren the different Berber tribes in the eastern hinterland ( Ighil, Innoumar, Imi'm grain, Imchiguegueln and others).
