Birchington-on-Sea

Birchington -on-Sea is a First mentioned in 1240, village in the northeast of the county of Kent in England. It belongs to the district of Thanet, has about 9800 inhabitants (2001 ), situated on the North Sea coast between the towns of Herne Bay and Westgate-on -Sea east of the estuary of the Thames on the Isle of Thanet.

Birchington -on-Sea describes itself as " the largest village in Kent ," which is an unofficial title due to the non-uniform in the UK definition of a village.

As a seaside resort situated on four sandy bays of the place is very popular with tourists and as a retirement home for retirees.

On the edge of the village is the Quex Park, was where not only a mansion, but in 1818 a bell tower ( The Waterloo Tower ) for the purpose of change ringing built.

The poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti died in 1832 while vacationing in Birchington -on-Sea, where he was buried.
