Birt (crater)

Birt is an impact crater in the eastern part of the Mare Nubium. To the east of the crater extends the Rupes Recta, an elongated, straight terrain formation, which was formerly called the Long Wall, although this is only one step in the terrain. On the opposite side of the road range is the crater Thebit.

Birt is bowl-shaped with a raised edge. The southeastern edge of the crater is easily masked by the satellite crater Birt A. West of Birt runs a groove called Rima Birt in north-north- westerly direction through an arc of F according to Birt Birt E.
