William Radcliffe Birt

William Radcliffe Birt ( born July 15, 1804 in London, † December 14, 1881 in Leytonstone, Essex ) was an English amateur astronomer. He worked closely with John Herschel. His main focus, he taught in the years 1843-1850 to meteorological studies of atmospheric waves. The majority of his works is in the Scientist 's Collection of the American Philosophical Society.

The crater Birt on the Earth's moon is named after him.
