Bistensee is a district of the town of Ahlefeld - Bistensee and is located in Rendsburg -Eckernförde district in Schleswig -Holstein.

Bistensee was until 29 February 2008, an independent municipality. She has fused on 1 March 2008 with the neighboring town of Ahlefeld to the new town of Ahlefeld - Bistensee.

Geography and transport

The district is located about 13 km southeast of Schleswig, 12 km south-west of Eckernförde and 15 km north of Büdelsdorf along Route 206 in the Hüttener mountains. Southwest runs the Federal Highway 7 Bordesholm to Schleswig and north of State Road 76 from Schleswig to Kiel.

History

Bistensee was first mentioned in 1142 and in 1542 appeared on the Gottorp official register. The place name is probably derived from the word rushes.

The place was because of the small railway line from Eckernförde to Owschlag, which was built around 1900.
