Bistra, MaramureÈ™
Bistra (Hungarian Petrovabisztra, Ukrainian Бистрий / Bystryj ) is a town in Maramureş County in northern Romania. The village is situated about 12 km south of the border with Ukraine.
The village itself Bistra had 1137 inhabitants, with the two eingemeindeten villages Crasnei Viseului and Valea Viseului there were 4902 in 2002.
90 % of the population are Ukrainians. Through the town flows the river Vişeu.
