Bjarne Nerem

Bjarne Nerem Arnulf ( born July 31, 1923 in Oslo, † 1 April 1991 ) was a Norwegian jazz tenor saxophonist and clarinetist.

Life and work

Nerem plays from 1947 to 1949 in various bands in Norway, in 1949 on ocean steamers, and from 1953 mainly in Sweden. There he worked with Ernie Englund 1954, Lars Gullin 1955/56, Ove Lind 1958, Ake Persson and Andres Burman 1959. During this time he was also on recordings with staying in Sweden U.S. musicians such as Stan Getz, Roy Haynes, Joe Harris and Benny Bailey involved.

In 1962 he played in the orchestra of Bengt -Arne Wallin ( The Birth of Swedish Folk Jazz ), Jan Johansson, and in 1980 with Nils Lindberg. In 1988, he took with Al Grey in Norway the album Al Meets Bjarne on. One of the few recordings under his own name was 1976/77 with Egil Kapstad and Jan Erik Haug Kong instead ( Everything Happens to Me ).
