Blackfield

Blackfield is a collaboration between Porcupine Tree singer and frontman Steven Wilson and Israeli pop musician Aviv Geffen.

History

The first, highly acclaimed by critics and audiences album of the Blackfield project, consisting of the Israeli Aviv Geffen and the Englishman Steve Wilson ( Porcupine Tree ), appeared in 2004. Gavin Harrison, drummer of Porcupine Tree, was one of the guest musicians. At Blackfield Unlike Porcupine Tree short, rather melancholic songs are the focus; the sound is dominated by strings, acoustic guitars and warm harmonies, with now and then rockier songs occur in the repertoire. A first tour took the duo in late 2004 and early 2005 in Europe and the United States. To support this, they had a three -piece band, in the U.S., they were also accompanied by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess. In February 2007, the plain with Blackfield II -titled second album was released. In addition, a concert in New York was recorded for future DVD release in March 2007. On 28 March 2011 released their third album now with Welcome to my DNA. With the exception of " Waving " here solely responsible Geffen for the song material. On the appearing on August 30, 2013 the fourth album is Steven Wilson, who due to his solo activities does not have the sufficient temporal space this year, no more than an official band member with it, Aviv Geffen is now the only boss in charge of the project. However, Wilson is also involved on this album as a guest vocalist, guitarist and mixer. Several guest vocalists, including Vincent Cavanagh of Anathema, are represented on the album. Early 2013, the song " Pills " was released for promotional purposes, in mid-August, a music video was released for "Jupiter". Both songs are represented on the new album " Blackfield IV". Beginning in February 2014 began Blackfield a European tour.

Style

The music is based on the quieter Porcupine Tree pieces and is between rock and pop with often melancholic mood. The pieces are both from the pen of Geffen and Wilson. Some tracks are re-recordings of older Geffen songs whose lyrics were transferred to the Hebrew into English, for example, Clear Now.
