Blackie Lawless

Blackie Lawless ( born September 4, 1956 as Steven Edward Duren ) is an American musician who in the 1980s with his Schock-Rock-/Heavy-Metal-Band WASP was known. He is a singer and guitarist.

Biography

Blackie Lawless grew along with the future Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley on Staten Iceland, New York, NY. At the age of 9 years, he got his first guitar and earned in the same year his first salary of 16 dollars and 35 cents with his first band, The Underside. During his school years Lawless fell on particularly by brawls; at 13 he was stabbed, sent at age 14 to a military school. At age 16, he played on the East Coast in local bars with his band Black Rabbits. For some time he also played in a band called Orfax Rainbow.
