Blanchard (crater)

37.46

Blanchard is an impact crater on the far side of the Moon, just behind the southwest edge. It lies between the crater Pilâtre the southeast and Arrhenius in north- northwesterly direction. Continue south to the rugged terrain extends north of the ring plane Hausen.

The rim of Blanchard is rounded and eroded and has a slight extension into a northeasterly direction. In the north-western crater wall there is a breach that was caused by the satellite crater Blanchard P. The remaining area has the crater rim, mainly in the southeastern area, several gaps caused by impacts on. The two craters are almost fused together and share a common crater floor. This crater floor is a bit uneven, but has neither a central mountain nor other noticeable features.
