Blantyre (South Lanarkshire)

Blantyre in Scotland is a city in the county of South Lanarkshire 15 km south-east of Glasgow. It currently has 17,505 inhabitants.

In Blantyre, the Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone was born.

Here was also died in 1997, lead singer of the popular in the 1970s British glam- rock band " The Sweet ", Brian Connolly was born. From Blantyre who also wrote the first Minister of Labour of the United States, William B. Wilson.

On October 22, 1877 215 people died in coal mine of Blantyre.
