The Mere cell is the highest at 480 m elevation of the Hils and Alfelder highlands (Ith - Hils - Bergland ). It is located on the border of counties wood Minden and Hildesheim, good 4 km northeast of Eschershausen.

With a predominance of 18 km and a prominence of approximately 235 m Hils and nakedness are among the loftiest mountain ranges or peaks of the Lower Saxony mountain country.
