BM Aragón

BM Aragón ( Club Deportivo Basico Balonmano Aragon ) is a Spanish handball team from Zaragoza, Aragon in Spain.

History

The club was founded in December 2003 from the two big clubs Zaragoza, ROTULOS Plasneón and the 2000 relegated from the league ASOBAL Garbel Zaragoza. New president was Ricardo Arregui Caja de Ahorros by the main sponsor de la Inmaculada ( CAI shortly ). The club took over the game license from Garbel Zaragoza and was in the 2004/05 season second behind Algeciras BM, so the club climb into the league ASOBAL. Thanks to the support of the main sponsors of the club succeeded to build an effective team, which promptly managed to avoid relegation and even qualified for the EHF Cup. In the 2006/07 season, the club with the 6th rank confirmed its ambitions and moved beyond one of the EHF Cup final, where the team but failed to German SC Magdeburg Gladiators.

The association is (short CAI) sponsored from the company of the President, Caja de Ahorros de la Inmaculada. Why is the current official name of the club also CAI BM Aragón.
