Bo Stief

Bo Stief (* October 15, 1946 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish jazz bassist.

Step first played in Jazzhus Montmartre, where he accompanied Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Ben Webster, Stuff Smith, Dexter Gordon, Roy Eldridge or Kenny Drew. Since 1965, he belonged to a quintet by Palle Mikkel Borg and Alex Riel. In 1966 he went with Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri and Karl Berger on tour. Later he worked with Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Johnny Griffin, Jackie McLean, Terje Rypdal, Jan Garbarek, George Russell and Ernie Watts. Furthermore, he was with Peter Herbolzheimers Rhythm Combination & Brass, but also with Joachim Kühn and Zbigniew Seifert on tour. He played on the plate aura of Miles Davis. Since 1980, directs step- a quintet, but also groups such as Chasing Dreams, Dream Machine and currently One Song III with accordionist Lelo Niko and pianist Paulo Rosso.

In 2005 he received the Django d' Or ( Denmark) as Master of Jazz.
