Bob Straub State Park

The, also known as Bob Straub State Park Robert Straub State Park is a state park in Tillamook County in the U.S. state of Oregon. The 196 -acre park is located on the Nestucca Sand Spit, a peninsula south of Pacific City. The approximately three kilometers long and up to 800 m wide peninsula is covered with sand dunes and shrubs. South of the park opens the Nestucca River in the Nestucca Bay and on to the Pacific.

The use of the park is free of charge. The park at the car park on a picnic area, and sanitary purposes. Several riding and walking through the park, the white, flat sandy beach of the peninsula is popular with surfers and stand strollers. The Nestucca River is considered one of the best fishing spots for Oregon King Salmon. Across the river sits include some sections on Nestucca Bay Wildlife Refuge, in addition to numerous other species protects the only coastal population of Canada geese dark.

The parking area was acquired 1961-1964, 1966 the park was extended. Originally called the Park Nestucca Spit State Park. In 1987 he was by Robert W. Straub, an avowed environmentalist and Governor of Oregon from 1975 to 1979, renamed.
