Bobrowice, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Bobrowice ( German Alt Bewersdorf, also: Bewersdorf ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Sławno ( Schlawe ) in the powiat Slawienski.

Geographical location

Bobrowice located in Pomerania, four kilometers southwest of the county town Sławno ( Schlawe ).

The highest peak south of the village reached 68 meters above sea level. The terrain falls to the north to the glacial valley of the Moszczenica ( Pimp ) up to 29 meters from.

Neighboring towns of Bobrowice are: Rzyszczewo ( Ristow ) to the west, Boleszewo ( Rötzenhagen ) in the north, Sławno, Bobrowiczki ( New Bewersdorf ) and Kwasowo ( Quatzow ) in the east and Smardzewo ( Schmarsow ) in the south.

Place name

Earlier forms of the name are: Beuerdorpe, Beuertorp, Low German: Bewerdorp. The name came before 1945 even in the district of Stolp ago (today Polish: Bobrownik ). Probably the name of "Beaver " derived, thus means "Beaver Village". A parallel to this is the Polish part naming as " bóbr " means in Polish beaver. The term Old Bewersdorf was only introduced to distinguish the resulting in early 19th century New Bewersdorf.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1357, when the ducal brothers Bogislaw V, Barnim VI. and Wartislaw V. the Council and the citizens of Schlawe mortgaged with the village. This Bewersdorf was one of the Schlawer town villages, as well Warschow (now Polish: Warszkowo ) and Schwenzenhagen (later Coccejendorf, Polish Radoslaw ). 1510 joined Tetzlaff Ristow the mill to Bewersdorf to the city Schlawe from which they then leased to the farmers Lawrence Peter.

On February 25, 1569, the government gave in Kolberg the city Schlawe a Salvaguardia to protect their property and villages Warschow Bewersdorf. Around 1780 had Bewersdorf a field work with sheep, a water mill, a pitcher, 17 farmers, three half- farmers, two Kossäten, seven Büdner, a forge and a schoolmaster and a total of 28 households.

In 1818 Bewersdorf counted 270 inhabitants. Their number increased in 1885 to 457 in 1939 and amounted to 369

By 1945 Bewersdorf belonged to the district Schlawe i Pom. in the administrative region of Pomerania Pomerania. The competent registry office and the local court were in Schlawe.

Towards the end of World War II Old Bewersdorf was occupied on March 7, 1945 by Soviet troops. After the war, Old Bewersdorf was put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. In the fall of 1945 expulsion of the native inhabitants, which was completed by Christmas began. Old Bewersdorf was renamed Bobrowice.

The village is today a district of Gmina Sławno in powiat Slawienski the West Pomeranian Voivodeship is. Until 1998, the town belonged to the former province Slupsk.

District Bewersdorf

The two villages Bewersdorf Old and New Bewersdorf formed before 1945 the District Bewersdorf ( Headquarters: Old Bewersdorf ). It was i Pom district Schlawe. in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania. Last municipality mayor of Old Bewersdorf was 1929-1945 Paul Burow.

Church

Evangelical Church

Prior to 1945, were the residents of Old Bewersdorf exclusively Protestant denomination. The village belonged to New Bewersdorf, Old Warschow, New Warschow and Coccejendorf Parish Schlawe in which two officiating clergymen. It was in the church Schlawe in the ecclesiastical province of the Church of the Old Prussian Pomerania Union. 1940 was one of the parish over 11000 church members. Last German clergy before 1945 were Superintendent Edward Block and Pastor Friedrich Gehrmann.

Today, the site belongs to the parish of Koszalin ( Koszalin ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

Roman Catholic Church

Since the population exchange in 1945 are now the Polish inhabitants of Bobrowice predominantly Roman Catholic denomination. The village is still oriented church after Sławno out now of course in the Catholic parish, which belongs to the deanery in the Diocese of Koszalin - Kolobrzeg Sławno of the Catholic Church in Poland.

School

By the end of the 18th century a schoolmaster worked in Bewersdorf. 1928 and 1929 a new, two-class school was built. The old school building was converted for rental. Last German headmaster was 1921-1945 teacher Willi Kosin.

Traffic

There is a connection to the national road 6 Gdansk - Szczecin ( former German Reich Straße 2, now also European Route 28) at the junction of the main road from Polanów ( Pollnow ) about Lejkowo ( Leikow ) and Żegocino ( blessing Thin). The PKP - line No. 202 Gdańsk - Stargard ( Pomerania ) passes through the northern field mark of the village. The nearest train station is Karwice ( Karwitz ).
