Boh (Woreda)

Boh is one of four administrative districts ( woredas ) in the Warder zone of Somali region of Ethiopia. Capital of the woreda is the same Boh. Boh lies on the border with Somalia and Somaliland and Puntland, and is the easternmost Woreda of all of Ethiopia.

The area of ​​the Boh woredas and Geladi part of the Haud and is inhabited by Somalis who belong mainly to the clans of the Majerteen and Dolbohanta - Darod and live as nomadic cattle breeders. By the middle of the 20th century each little water in this area was in the dry season available, so Nomad dodged to the fountain of Warder and surrounding towns as well as Gaalkacyo, Las Anod or Garoowe in Somalia. More recently, the number of water points has increased: in 1963 a well was dug in Boh, more holes were followed in the 1970s in Docmo and Dogob. In addition, since the 1970s many private Birka, underground water reservoirs created. These developments have made it possible that the previously used mainly in the wet season grazing areas are now grazing in the dry season. However, this has also meant that the most important forage plants have become scarce.

According to 2007 census, the woreda Boh 103 074 inhabitants, of which 8.91% ( 9,188 ) live in urban areas. Larger towns are the capital of Boh with 5,082 and 1,592 residents with Dimeriad ( 2005). Of 1997, 79 428 inhabitants 99.99 % Somali, and 5.63% ( 4,471 ) were considered to be city dwellers.
