Bohuslav Svoboda

Bohuslav Svoboda ( born February 8, 1944 in Prague) is a Czech politician and gynecologist and was between 30 November 2010 and May 23, 2013 Mayor of the Czech capital Prague.

Svoboda is a gynecologist by profession. After graduating in 1967 he worked for two years in Pribram, since then he has been working at the antenatal clinic of the University Hospital Vinohrady. In 1990 he was appointed head of this clinic, the same year he completed his habilitation in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. From 1990-1996 he was Vice Dean of the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University, from 2003 to 2010 the dean. In 2010 he was re-elected Vice-Dean, gave this post on but when he was elected mayor of Prague. 1992-1998 Svoboda was president of the Czech Medical Chamber.

Svoboda ran unsuccessfully in 1998 for the four-party coalition to the Senate of the Czech Republic. In September 2010 he joined the Občanská demokratická a strana. On 30 November 2010 he was elected by a coalition of Občanská demokratická strana with the Social Democrats as the successor of Pavel Bem mayor. After only one year blurted this coalition. Svoboda ruled since an alliance of its ODS with the TOP 09 However, this alliance broke up in May 2013 as well. Svoboda was subsequently dismissed by the Prague City Council on May 23, 2013 proposal of the Social Democrats, with the approval of the TOP 09 of Oberbürgremeisterposten.

In the early House of Representatives elections on 25-26. October 2013 Svoboda was elected for the ODS in the Czech Chamber of Deputies.
