Bojort

A Boii (also Boj, Boii, Boeijer, Boeyjer or Booyer called ) is a derived from Holland, round built, flat continuous small watt and coastal sailing ship.

A Boii has a flat bottom and wide edge swords. Main task was the laying of buoys and cargo transport. Initially, single-masted, provided only with mast and sprit sail, it was further developed into the " One and a half Master" with Spriet and lateen sail.

As a half Master of the Boii was one of the most famous coastal sailors in northern European waters in the 16th century. This larger, seagoing Boii type was characterized by a less shallow ship bottom, eliminating the side boards, a flat transom stern and a small hut. Later a small Topprahsegel was the mainmast additionally driven, the little mizzen mast kept the lateen sail and the bowsprit there was a blind man, a square sail.

Beginning of the 17th century, the sprit sail was replaced by a gaff sail.

The wide, plump shape of the Boii influenced visible following ship types as Kuff, tjalk and Galiot.

Equipped under the name " Bojeryacht " and with gaff rigging the ship type to date claimed as utility and pleasure craft up to 13 m length.
