Bolívar, Cochabamba

Bolívar is a town in the Cochabamba Department in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Bolivar is a central place and seat of the administration of the province of Bolívar and lies at an altitude of 3735 m in the Cordillera Azanaques, a mountain range in the northern part of the Bolivian Cordillera Central. Bolívar is located on the left bank of the Río Carpani, the further downstream ends six kilometers at Yarvicoya in the Río Huaraya.

Geography

Bolívar is located between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Cordillera Oriental in the east on the northern foothills of the Cordillera Central.

The climate of the region is semiarid and a typical diurnal climate in which the average daily temperature fluctuations are more pronounced than the mean temperature differences during the year.

The annual precipitation is about 550 mm (see climate chart Sacaca ), with a significant dry season from April to October, less than 20 mm month precipitation, humidity and short time in January and February with rainfall more than 100 mm. The mean average temperature of the region is just over 9 ° C and varies only slightly between 5 ° C in June / July and 12 ° C in November / December.

Bolívar is located 135 kilometers by road from Cochabamba, the capital of the department in southwestern direction.

From Cochabamba leads in a westerly direction the paved highway Ruta 4 of the city Quillacollo after Parotani and on to Caracollo, where she encounters the Ruta 1, which traverses the Altiplano from north to south and establishes connection to La Paz, Oruro and Potosí. South of Parotani branches off to the south from a paved road and after 24 kilometers, the city Capinota. From there, a dirt road leads further up the Río Arque, reaching over Arque and Irpa Irpa after 46 kilometers, the village Tacopaya from where she leads a further 28 kilometers to the south to Bolivar and on to Sacaca.
