Bolzer See

The Bolzer lake in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern is located south of Bolz (municipality Mustin ) in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in West Mecklenburg in a Endmoränenzug. It has a length of approximately 1.5 kilometers, a width of 0.8 km and an average depth of 6.5 meters. The lake is divided by a peninsula into a western and an eastern part and the western part is a larger wooded island. The shores of the lake are lined by a continuous belt of reeds and übwiegend consist of wooded steep slopes and are followed by agricultural land. In the West, a black alder forest limits the lake.

The entire lake, including the shore area is reported since 1967 Bolzer as a nature reserve lake, there is a cormorant and gray heron colony on an island located in the western section. The breeding population of cormorants currently includes 294 pairs. This cormorant colony has existed since 1964 and is the oldest inland of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The Bolzer lake is part of a conservation area and is located in the natural park Sternberger Lakeland.
