Boniface, Count of Savoy

Boniface of Savoy (* December 1, 1244; † June 7, 1263 ) was Count of Savoy and the only son of Amadeus IV.

Boniface was only nine years old when his father died in 1253. By 1259, therefore, he was under the regency of his uncle Thomas of Piedmont.

Although his enthusiasm earned him the nickname Roland, his commitment was a disaster in the wars in Flanders and Piedmont.

He remained unmarried until his death and had no children. In 1263 he transferred the county of Savoy to his uncle Peter II.
