Bonifatius Becker

Boniface OSB Becker ( born October 31, 1898 as Josef Becker in angle; † 9 May 1981 in Kornelimünster ) was from 1956 to 1967 first resident abbot of the Benedictine abbey rebuilt new Kornelimünster near Aachen.

Life

Becker was born in 1898 as the oldest of 11 children in angle in the Westerwald. He learned the bricklayer and worked in the family business in Wanne- Eickel, where the family was then moved.

He has appeared as late appointee in 1930 became a Benedictine monk of the monastery Ilbenstadt, where he took the religious name of Boniface. After his profession in 1935 he received there on 29 March 1937, the holy priesthood. In May 1939 he was appointed prior of the abbey Kornelimünster and 1953, according to the survey of the monastery to the abbey became prior administrator.

On March 9, 1956, he was elected the first abbot of the monastery and introduced by the Abt Provisitator Ildefonso Schulte Strathaus from the Abbey of Siegburg in his office on March 23.
