Borek Strzeliński

Borek Strzeliński ( German Great Castle ) is a village in Silesia, Poland. It is a district of Strzelin and is 10 km north of the city. Administratorisch it belongs to the powiat Strzeliński in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The town was first mentioned in 1155 as juxta Borech. Other names were Boreck, Borck, Bork, Borek, Borkum, Great Castle and Great Castle.

1232 (or 1234-1237 ) gave Duke Henry the Bearded to place with other places Krentsch, roast pork, small lauds and Ottwitz to the monastery Lebus in Brandenburg. When "Hold Great Castle " this monastery owned in 1553 by the abbot of the monastery bailiff Friedrich von Kanitz from the Meissen noble family of the von Kanitz sold. By owning the Brandenburg grew after its secularization special in that big castle was not a part of the Habsburg possessions in Silesia, but an exclave of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. After 1742, Silesia became Prussian, the exclave large castle was incorporated.

1910 United castle received a railway connection. Before the Second World War lived 834 inhabitants ( 1939) in the village. Between 1818 and 1945 the county was chasing belonging.
