Boris Georgiev

Boris Georgiev Bulgarian Metodiew: Борис Методиев Георгиев; English transcription: Boris Metodiev Georgiev ( born December 5, 1982 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian boxer. He is Vice-European Featherweight Champion of 2000 and the lightweight 2002 and European champion in the light welterweight in 2006. Moreover, he won the 2004 Olympic bronze medal in the light welterweight.

Career

The approximately 1.80 m wide, multiple Bulgarian champion in 1998, won a bronze medal in the bantamweight title at the Cadet European Championships in Latvia. He defeated Vitali Tajbert, Viktors Vaskis and Tamaz Kebadze before he was defeated in the semifinals just the Russians Pawel Shirin ( 4:6 ). In 2000 he started at featherweight at the Junior World Championships in Hungary, where he penetrated into the finals from Turkey victories against Carmine Cirillo from Italy, Viktor Weissenburger from Germany, Rikardas Bajka from Lithuania and Selçuk Aydın; Finally there he lost very narrowly 16:17 against the Hungarian Gyula Kate.

Also at the 2000 European Championships in Finland, he could win a silver medal in the featherweight. He suggested doing Georgi Makalatija from Ukraine, Adrian Nascu from Romania and Falk huste from Germany before he was beaten from Turkey in the final Ramaz Paliani. Also at the European Championships in 2002 in Russia, he won a silver medal in the lightweight. He had advanced to the finals with victories against Araik Sachbasjan from the Czech Republic, Farhad Adjalow from Azerbaijan, Vidas Bičiulaitis from Lithuania and Selçuk Aydın from Turkey, where he was defeated by Russians Alexander Maletin.

When Chemistry Cup in Germany in 2002, he lost only in the finale of the half- welterweight against the Germans Norman Schuster 12:14 and again won a silver medal. Previously wins against Patrik Bogere from Sweden and Aydın Gasanov him were managed from Russia. In 2004, he won a final victory in the welterweight against Jose Guttierez, the EU Championships in Spain.

In August 2004, he started in the Light Welterweight at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens. He also won the same year the silver medal in the light welterweight in the EU Championships in Hungary ( wins against Bradley Saunders of England and Önder SIPAL from Turkey, Final defeat against Hungary Gyula Kate ) and a bronze medal at the Chemistry Cup in Germany ( victory against Martin Swoboda from the Czech Republic, semi-final defeat against Harun Sipahi from Germany ).

In 2007 world championships because Georgiev difference though in the quarter- final against Gennady Kovalev, but thus qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games.

After Georgiev was at the 2008 European Championships in the first fight against Frankie Gavin, England ( 13:5 ), resigned, he represented Bulgaria in the light welterweight at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. After a victory against the Americans Javier Molina ( 14:1 ), he was defeated in the second round Urantschimegiin monk - Erdene of Mongolia ( 3:10 ).
