Boris Smiljanić

Boris Smiljanić ( born September 28, 1976 in Zurich, Switzerland ) is a former Swiss football player.

Career

The 1.90 meter big defender played since 1993, ten years at Grasshopper Club Zurich and changed on 20 January 2003 to FC Basel. In June 2007, he dissolved the contract with FC Basel and returned after four years for Grasshopper Club Zurich, where he held the position of captain for his resignation in the summer of 2012.

His greatest achievements were winning the Swiss Championship with the Grasshoppers and FC Basel in the years 1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2005 and the Cup - winning also with these two clubs in the years 1994, 2003 and 2007. His first international game he played in 1999. Subsequently, he was no longer invited to the national team until he was appointed coach Kobi Kuhn again in August 2005.
