Bornholm County

Bornholm's office was set up in 1662 instead of the fief Hammershus and until the end of 2002 an office in Denmark. It included the island of Bornholm and the offshore island group in the North East Ertholmene. Administrative headquarters was Rønne. As the only District he remained nearly 350 years of all regional reforms untouched. On January 1, 2003, the Office of Bornholm with the five local authorities of his office area to the new local authority Bornholm region was merged municipality. This merger was the result of a referendum held on 29 May 2001. Region community united official and municipal level and it was like the official prefecture-level cities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Since 2007, the former Office of Bornholm as Copenhagen and Frederiksberg is part of the Capital Region. This does not include the Ertholmene that belong to any region and any municipality and are directly managed by the Ministry of Defence.

Until the 20th century, the island was divided into four Harden (Danish Odsherred ):

  • Nørre Herred ( North Harde )
  • Sønder Herred (South Harde )
  • Vester Herred (West Harde )
  • Øster Herred (East Harde )

The six major cities (Danish Købstad ) of the island were subject to the municipal reform 1970, the office administration, in contrast to the rest of the country, where cities were supervised by the Ministry of Interior.

From the parishes (Danish: Sogn ) of the Office in 1970 following municipalities were formed:

  • Allinge - Gudhjem
  • Hasle
  • Neksø
  • Rønne
  • Åkirkeby
